NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has expressed skepticism about China's plan to end the war in Ukraine, saying Beijing "doesn't have much credibility".

- About the proposals and points presented by Beijing - China does not have much credibility because it has not yet condemned the illegal invasion of Ukraine, Stoltenberg said during a visit to Estonia, where journalists asked for a comment on the Chinese peace plan, i.e. the 12-point document published on the website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The document calls for the renewal of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, while Beijing simultaneously calls on the international community to "create conditions" for these negotiations.

– China does not have much credibility because it has not yet condemned the illegal invasion of Ukraine. Just days before the invasion, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on "cooperation without restrictions," Stoltenberg said.

The Secretary General of NATO added that "military support for Ukraine today - is the way to a peace agreement tomorrow", responding in this way to the Chinese criticism of the delivery of weapons from the West to Ukraine. At the same time, he warned China against sending weapons to Russia, saying such a move would be open support for Russia's illegal war and a violation of the UN Charter.

- We are closely monitoring what China is doing and we see indications that they may be considering the possibility of sending lethal aid to Russia. That would be a very serious mistake, Stoltenberg said.
