Ukraine continues to inflict "heavy losses" on Russia after some of the "most intense fighting" since the war began in February 2022, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said today.

"The Ukrainians can inflict heavy losses on the Russian invaders, both in terms of troops and combat capacity," Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Brussels.

He said that these military losses were inflicted during the last weeks.

In addition, Stoltenberg at a press conference in Brussels called on Turkey to ratify Sweden's admission to the Alliance "as soon as possible".

"Sweden has fulfilled its promises and now the time has come for Turkey to finalize the accession process," Stoltenberg said.
