Stoltenberg: Finland will join NATO in the coming days

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said today that Finland will join the Alliance within days after Turkey's decision to ratify its application.

– All 30 NATO Allies have now ratified the Accession Protocol. Finland will formally join our alliance in the coming days, Stoltenberg said.

The Turkish Parliament yesterday approved Finland's bid for NATO membership, paving the way for Helsinki to join the Western alliance at the height of the war in Ukraine.

The Turkish parliament is the last of NATO's 30 member parliaments to approve Finland's membership in the alliance.

Earlier this week, the Hungarian Parliament also approved Helsinki's entry into the North Atlantic alliance after months of delays.

On May 18 last year, Finland and Sweden submitted applications to the NATO Secretary General for entry into the Alliance.
