The Mayor of the Municipality of Gazi Baba Boban Stefkovski, together with representatives of the Faculty of Forestry and members of the Council of the Municipality of Gazi Baba visited the Protected Area "Integral whole Island", according to the Municipality.

- We jointly determined that it is necessary to start the process of re-declaring the Protected Area "Integral whole Ostrovo" in which the municipality of Gazi Baba accepts to be a partner and support of the Faculty of Forestry - said Mayor Stefkovski.

As a reminder, the protected area "Integral whole Island" consists of three areas: The first part is called Lake and is a place where different species of birds nest, and is also called a place for nesting, resting and flying of different bird species. The second part is called Arboretum which is a collection of different non-native species of trees, ie trees to which this is not a natural habitat but are planted for scientific purposes.

It was built in the 50s of the last century and contained about 600 species of trees from around the world. At that time part of the arboretum was used for seedling production. The third part is called Ostrovo which is a former islet on two legs of the river Vardar, a small area of preserved indigenous vegetation and habitat of a large number of different animals.

- This protected area should again receive the status of protection from the state because it is a natural beauty of a rare type - are decisive from the Municipality of Gazi Baba.
