Serbian strategist Dejan Stankovic could soon sit on the Sampdoria bench.

The Italian club fired coach Marco Giampaolo after the defeat by Monza over the weekend, and immediately after that, speculations about Stankovic's arrival at the club began.

Sampdoria tried to bring Stankovic back in the summer, but then he decided to extend his contract and stay at Crvena Zvezda. However, Stankovic left the Serbian club after the elimination in the qualifiers by Maccabi Haifa.

In the previous period, Stankovic was also connected with Inter as a possible successor to Simone Inzaghi if he leaves the club, but the situation with Sampdoria is allegedly far more serious.

The news about Stankovic's negotiations with Zvezda was confirmed by the famous Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, one of the most trusted when it comes to Serie A.
