A bus with children from Serbia overturned on the Trakia highway in Bulgaria

A bus carrying children from Serbia flew off the "Trakia" highway tonight and overturned in a canal near the Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora, he told Nova.bg Stanimir Stanev, Deputy Chief Secretary of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior.

The accident happened around 20:10 p.m., at the 216th kilometer of the highway in the direction of Sofia. According to initial information, at least ten children were seriously injured.

Police and firefighters are on the scene. Traffic on this section of the highway is restricted to provide a green corridor for transporting injured children to hospitals.

Five police and five fire service teams arrived at the scene, as well as emergency services, and many drivers stopped and helped to pull the injured children from the bus. The driver is among the injured. The children from Serbia were returning from a holiday on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

So far, there is no information about the dead, but there are seriously injured among those transported to the hospital, local media reports, referring to the police.
