Serbs will pay a higher fee for the public media service
The deputies of the Serbian parliament adopted the amendments to the Law on temporary regulation of the method of charging the public media service, which increase the subscription fee for the public service by 50 dinars (25 denars).
Instead of the current 299 dinars (150 denars), the fee will be 349 dinars (175 denars). In the explanation of the law, it is stated that the most expedient proposed solution is that in the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2025, public media services are partially financed from the budget of the Republic of Serbia, and partially from the fee for public media services, which would be charged through the account for the consumed electricity, which ensures a high tax collection rate.
This solution is proposed, as stated, "on the basis of statistical data on the average salary and the amount of pensions in Serbia, the high initial costs of printing and distributing invoices and the disproportionately high costs of starting the procedure for the collection of unpaid claims of on the one hand, and the need to provide conditions for the smooth execution of the basic activities of public media services, on the other hand," reported Nova.rs.
