Serbs will receive a 2.000 euro subsidy for a new car

Anyone who currently owns an older diesel vehicle from the state will be able to receive a subsidy of over 2.000 euros for the purchase of a new one. The state provides subsidies to all owners of old diesels for the purchase of new vehicles. In mid-December, the Government of Serbia adopted the Air Protection Program from 2022 to 2030 with an action plan, and as part of the program, financial incentives will be granted for the replacement of old diesel vehicles, in order to reduce the emission of harmful gas.

As stated in the document, the incentives for the purchase of "cleaner" vehicles range from 2.100 euros for the purchase of a passenger car, 2.500 euros for the purchase of light trucks and 2.900 euros for the purchase of a bus, reported Blitz Business rs. In the document, it was indicated that the financial incentive covers only 35 percent of the costs for the purchase of used Euro 6 vehicles. The estimated amount for the implementation of this measure is 102 million euros.

- The measure implies that financial incentives will enable the deregistration/sending of the oldest vehicles from the fleet to the recycling centers, the document says.

The deadline for implementing the subsidy award measure is 2026, and the goal is for the state to deliver about 122.000 old, polluting diesel vehicles in this way. The method of awarding the subsidies has not yet been defined, but the Traffic Safety Agency will propose a support mechanism from public funds for the deregistration/shipping of these vehicles, reports the Kamatica portal.
