Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic offered Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that Serbia participate with five to ten percent ownership in the construction of the Hungarian nuclear power plant in Paks and announced that Belgrade will be part of the single electricity exchange with Slovenia and Hungary, Croatian reports. The state delegations of the two countries met today in Budapest and signed a series of bilateral agreements, during which it was emphasized that Hungarian-Serbian relations are at the "highest historical level" and that the two countries have common interests in the energy sector, infrastructure and transport.

"I asked Orbán to consider the possibility of buying five or ten percent of the ownership in the Hungarian nuclear power plant Paks - our share would be around 150 million euros," said Vucic after joint meetings and talks with Orbán.

He considered that energy diversification is "very healing", including projects for the further leasing of gas storages, at a time when major problems are expected in the supply of electricity across Europe.

"And that's why we want to build as many gas stations as possible," Vucic said, recalling his talks with Azerbaijani President Ilhan Aliyev about the delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Serbia.

It is possible that the Hungarians will enter together with us so that we can jointly finance it and use electricity (from gas plants)," said Vucic.

"A successful Serbia strengthens Hungary"

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán indicated that the two countries should try to make up for missed opportunities in history because Hungary wants to be rich and looks forward to having a country with the same ambitions in its neighborhood.

"Successful Serbia strengthens Hungary and increases our value. It is in our interest that the Serbs be successful and become rich just like us. That is our common attitude towards the future," Orbán said.

He said that Hungary is supplied with energy from Serbia.

"We discussed other investments in gas supply, gas storage and electricity supply. "The common electricity exchange will start working soon," Orban said.

Hungary confirmed its commitment and support to Serbia in European integration.

"For us, all projects with you - in energy, transport, economy, police and military cooperation and mutual support in the political arena are of great importance. Thank you Victor," said Vucic.
