"Cognition" magazine was created to support the independent cultural scene
Within the framework of the "Urban Agenda" project, on November 9, the new issue of the "Cognition" magazine, which was created in order to support the independent cultural scene, will be launched in MKC - Bitola.
The program of the multimedia event, where the fifth issue of the youth magazine "Spoznanie" will be launched, includes a screening of short films selected by the Youth Film Festival (MFF), a bazaar of local creatives, an exhibition of lamps made of recycled materials by Hristo Boyadziev, an installation of the collective "Partizanska stampa", while from 20:21 the musical part will start with a performance by Tea Shaldeva and Ognen Zlatanov, and from XNUMX:XNUMX he will perform "Alembic" group.
Created by students with a mission to promote alternative artistic expression, the magazine was founded as a digital medium in June 2022, and has already grown into a print medium with five issues. This movement aims not only to strengthen the media presence of young artists, but also to restore the habit of reading print media among the youth. The chief editor of the magazine is Darko Berovski.
With what need, purpose and mission did you start the magazine "Cognition"?
– The need arose naturally, that is, it was an answer to the question: Are alternative creatives sufficiently supported in our country? When the answer did not come I decided that it was necessary to explore that gap. In the process of finding the necessary information, I encountered enormous enthusiasm and interest from those creatives themselves who deal with some kind of art. With that, the goal itself develops, so that it can be defined as a tool for maintaining this kind of culture in our country.
As a mission, our first was a magazine, but it turned out to be five and somehow we want to continue in that direction, but with the fulfillment of the first mission, the next one was created in parallel, that is, providing a space for these creatives to present themselves to a certain audience.
Who stands in the founding camp of the magazine?
- From a digital to a printed magazine, "Sznojina" is moving quickly, and in the founding camp there were only Anamaria Mishachkovska and me. Annamaria and I have known each other since our high school days and after a conversation about the idea I had, to make a physical magazine and the curiosity she expressed to create something tangible, I concluded that it was a great match. He had complete freedom in designing and a year and a half later he still has it!
Apart from the two of us, we have the photographers Nikola Jovanović, Ivo Velčevski and Emilia Trajkovska, who from the very beginning had their visual contribution to "Knowledge". In addition, they were involved by suggesting artists that they felt corresponded to the idea of "Cognition".
Who is the magazine intended for?
– For everyone! For people, for the scared child from the first step towards his ideas, for the curious person who wants to explore the depth of the ocean by swimming, for the individual who fights for his voice to be heard... The truth is that we do not have a defined target group, because that is we limit ourselves. In terms of content, older artists, traditional musicians, alternative bands, Eurovision participants, but also creatives whose first exhibition was at our event were also present. This gives birth to the freedom that can be intended for anyone who wants to explore something new, independent and created from absolute goodness.
It was created for us and for our unfulfilled opportunities by the institutions. That's why we have to wonder about the society around us all the time, find a channel to express that question and fight to make it possible for other people.
