Several sport kayaks capsized near the Croatian island of Lokrum. At least two people are being searched for, and nine people have been rescued, including a child. The search has been called off tonight and will resume in the morning.

Around 15:20 p.m., the police received a report from citizens that they noticed several overturned kayaks in the open sea near the island of Lokrum.

"The police are involved in a search and rescue operation at sea after we received a report of a kayak overturning outside Lokrum this afternoon," said Andriana Biskup, spokesperson for the Dubrovnik-Neretva police.

He adds that the search operation is led by the Captaincy of the Ports, while the police with its vessel is focused on the place where the kayaks were last seen and on the wider maritime belt around that area.
