Spasovski at the liturgy on the occasion of Saint Gavril Lesnovski
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Oliver Spasovski, together with the mayor of Probishtip, Dragan Anastasov, visited the Lesnovski monastery today on the occasion of St. Gavril Lesnovski.
The saint from Osechko Pole lived as an ascetic for 30 years in Lesnovska Gora near Kratovo, after previously building a church and founding a monastery in honor of Archangel Michael. God, in response to his faith, love and feat, honored him with the gift of miracle-working even during his life. With its ten-century history, Lesnovski Monastery is a spiritual sanctuary and a literary center - synonymous with centuries-old Macedonian spiritual existence. The rich frescoes from the Byzantine period, the first carved iconostasis, captivate with their spiritual peace and God's grace. The monastic life is nurtured here, so in the past Lesnovska Gora was called "Monastic Republic". The monks themselves say that one of the largest libraries in the entire Orthodox world was in the Lesnovo monastery, but during the Balkan and world wars all the books were taken out and a large part of the manuscripts can be found in the libraries of neighboring countries and in private collections throughout Europe. Spasovski writes on Facebook.
