To avoid speculation, I confirm that the "Besa Trans" bus that caught fire in Bulgaria is a "Mercedes" brand, manufactured in 2007. He crossed the border more than 130 times this year and last year, said the Minister of the Interior, Oliver Spasovski.

He said that there will be responsibility and emphasized that a special case has been filed in the Public Prosecutor's Office with all the evidence of the accident and the illegal actions of "Besa Trans" and that if irregularities are found, criminal proceedings will be taken against the owners, as well as against the legal person.

Spasovski informs that on November 23, a team of the Ministry of the Interior was at the scene of the accident in Bulgaria and what was learned is that the bus hit the bank near Kula on the "Struma" highway, the driver lost control, then hit the left fence of the highway. There were 52 passengers, and the fire in the bus killed 45 people, 7 injured escaped from the bus.

"The inspection was carried out by a competent prosecutor and licensed experts from Bulgaria. The prosecutor informed the team of all the then known details. The team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Pirogov hospital conducted a conversation with the injured, as well as in detail with one of the injured persons, who managed to save seven people," said Spasovski.

Then the minister emphasized the competences of the Ministry of Internal Affairs:

"Our responsibility is to control travel documents or identity cards, and for vehicles traffic license and green card. The Ministry of the Interior is not responsible for checking licenses, but it is the Customs Administration and the State Inspectorate. The bus crossed the border in 22 cases, and last year 113 times. Licenses from other vehicles were apparently used. The bus was registered three years ago, and the last technical inspection was done last month. The finding of the technical examination is that there is no malfunction and there are no remarks. "Autobuost was produced in 2007," said Spasovski.

There are a total of eight criminal charges against "Besa Trans" for non-compliance with covid protocols, he said.

Spasovski informs that biological material has been secured for 44 passengers and has been handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will hand it over to the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office.
