The EU Council of Foreign Ministers will discuss the situation in Ukraine on April 19
The EU Council of Foreign Ministers will discuss all aspects of the situation in Ukraine via video conference on 19 April. The meeting will also address issues related to Russian restrictions on navigation in some areas of the Black Sea near Crimea, said EU foreign policy spokesman Peter Stano.
"The ministers will discuss all aspects of the situation on Monday, including Russia's latest statement restricting navigation," Stano told a regular briefing today.
According to him, the EU will not publicly consider imposing new sanctions on Russia, but the issue of strengthening or reducing restrictions will be discussed behind closed doors.
- We never talk about the process of preparing new sanctions. All existing regimes are considered and there is always the possibility of expanding or reducing them if the malicious activity ceases and there is no longer any basis for them. If we decide to impose new sanctions, we will never comment on it publicly. The procedure is closed, Satno said when asked if the EU intends to show solidarity with the United States in imposing restrictive measures against Moscow.
