- The disease caused by the omicron variant of the coronavirus is not a common cold. That is why some of our fellow citizens, especially the unvaccinated elderly citizens, will be seriously ill and will have to be treated, but they will also be in danger, said Papaevangelou.

About 5.000 people across Greece have been hospitalized for covid-19, and 85 percent of the beds in intensive care units in Greek hospitals have been filled.

On January 6, for example, the Ministry recorded 47.453 cases of contamination reported among students and 5.631 cases among staff during the first four days of the school year.
