The leaders of the United States, Japan, India and Australia met today at the White House for a summit of the Quad group, which shares concerns about strengthening China's role in the region and discussed vaccination against covidium and joint infrastructure and technology projects.

The Quad initiative, launched after the catastrophic tsunami in 2004, dubbed the "Four-Sided Security Dialogue", has been on hold for a long time, but has grown into a stronger alliance following Beijing resentment, saying the initiative was doomed to failure.

"Together we are in the Indo-Pacific region, a region that wants to be free from pressure, where the sovereign rights of all nations are respected and disputes are settled peacefully in accordance with international law," said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison at the start of the meeting.

US President Joe Biden first met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his office and then told other Quad partners that the vaccination initiative would be agreed at the Quad virtual summit in March, when additional billions would be generated. vaccine doses in India to increase the total number of vaccinated persons. That amount will be a great help to the countries of the Indo-Pacific region, Modi said.

"Quad brings together the four great democracies that know how to do business and are one step closer to the challenge," Biden said.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said the meeting showed strong solidarity between the four countries and their "resolute commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific". Quaid plans to deliver 19 billion doses of covid-2022 vaccine to all of Asia by the end of XNUMX, after India, the world's largest vaccine maker, banned exports in April as it battled a mass pandemic.

India is ready to start exporting in October, primarily through the international Kovacs program, Prime Minister Modi said. Kwad is set to announce several new contracts, including an initiative to protect the delivery of semiconductors, electronic components necessary for the full range of products, from aircraft to mobile phones, which are more difficult to obtain for industries today.

It will also announce a partnership for the 5G network and plans to monitor climate change.

The meeting took place just over a week after US, UK and Australia announce new security pact, AUCUS, under which nuclear submarines will be built for Australia, which was condemned by official Beijing.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian criticized Quad after saying at a briefing that it was "a closed, exclusive clique directed against other countries and goes against the times and aspirations of countries in the region." "He is doomed."

Ahead of the meeting, US officials sought to downplay the security aspects of Quaid, although members of the group conducted joint naval exercises and shared concerns about China's growing power in the region. China has characterized the Quad as a Cold War construction and told Aucus that it would step up the arms race in the region.
