Omicron strain also identified in Montenegro

The first case of the Omicron strain of the coronavirus in Montenegro has been detected in a family whose member recently arrived from Johannesburg, the Montenegrin Institute of Public Health announced today.

- All contacts are in isolation. All family members are in good condition with mild symptoms, the statement said.

The woman infected with the new Omicron strain arrived in Montenegro from South Africa at the end of November and was on a flight to Frankfurt with a person with a confirmed Omicron virus. She has not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

In Montenegro, 158.283 people have been infected since the beginning of the pandemic and 2.324 deaths have been registered.
