The left side of the alley that leads from Porta Makedonija to the city square has been fenced off with tapes and protective posts since yesterday, and in front of the fenced area there is a board announcing that this is a "work" of PE "Streets and Roads". After "Sloboden Pechat" recently announced that this area has been turned into a parking lot and that cars are passing uncontrollably under the Gate as if it were the busiest thoroughfare, while none of the authorities reacts or punishes us, finally a move was made by this public company.

Precisely because no one prevents the entry of vehicles in this area, and some citizens have found a "forgotten" piece where they can park freely, in just three years after the pavement was reconstructed and a considerable amount of money from the city was spent on it. the cash register, the tiles are broken, and the space looks desperate.

Will the PE "Streets and Roads" finally replace the destroyed tiles? From there they say no, but, as they claim, they are trying to prevent cars from being parked.

Makedonija Square is still under the guarantee of the contractor company and according to the rules they are repairing the damaged slabs in the area near Porta Makedonija. The teams of PE "Streets and Roads" - Skopje secure the area by installing protective posts, barriers and concrete planters in order to prevent illegal parking of vehicles, which constantly happens on this area by unscrupulous citizens - the public company explains for "Free Press".

Now, after this move by "Streets and Roads" there is even more chaos at the Gate. Only the fenced area is free of cars, where not even pedestrians can pass, and on the other lane of the street, vehicles incessantly enter, park, jam, create congestion and park. This means that the City of Skopje and the police must come up with another solution to stop the reckless behavior of some citizens.

The reconstruction of this part of the pavement was carried out together with the reconstruction of the area in front of the GTC, during the term of the former mayor Petre Šilegov, and ended at the beginning of 2020. About 33 million denars were spent on this project, that is, more than half a million euros from the city budget. The investor was the City of Skopje, and the construction work was carried out by the company "Bitem", which now, as claimed by "Streets and Roads", should be covered for the damage to the pavement.

With the reconstruction, instead of the old, crooked and full of holes asphalt, the entire stretch, on the two approaches to the square, was paved with three types of tiles, on an area of about 5000 square meters. Rows of chestnut trees, benches and adequate lighting were also planted.

No one cares or punishes: Vehicles broke the tiles at Porta Makedonija, the area turned into a parking lot
