Hundreds of young members of the LGBT + community are participating today on the third Pride Parade in the central part of Skopje. At the parade in support of them, under the motto "Come out for love! Dignity. Equality. Justice. ”Ministers, MPs, ambassadors, civil activists, parents, relatives and friends also walked.

Before the start of the protest march from the improvised stage in the truck parked in front of the Triumphal Arch, the young activist Eva Cvetkovska, President of USS UKIM, addressed the public and spoke about the feelings and fears of LGBT + members facing in Macedonia.

Many asked me what my neighbors would say if I came to the parade. Who turns the neighbors, I am here for the children of the neighbors, for the daughters of the neighbors who are throwing girls, for the sons of the neighbors who want to wear dresses and paint their nails and for all the young people who are still looking for themselves. And all of you here, even without a word to say with your very presence, today are the brave spokespersons of the revolution and the struggle for justice, equality and human rights. We are here for all our near and far, for all our known and unknown, who have been fired from home because they are gay and who have been fired for being trans and who have been physically and mentally abused because they do not fit into the narrow confines of what someone calls normal, but fortunately today we are here to reshape what someone calls normal, stressed Eva.

In her speech, she also referred to education where children who do not feel straight are victims of violence, pressure and even think of suicide only because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The members of the LGBT + community received support from the MP Monika Zajkova who addressed on behalf of her colleagues who through the legislature are trying to put a legal framework to prevent discrimination and stigmatization of the LGBT + community.

We as humans all exist and public space belongs to us all. I do not see where our rights we all have are less than the rights they decided to stay at home and fight for I do not know what values. We all pay taxes, we have equal obligations and it is right to enjoy all rights equally in this society. There are really many excuses that someone will abuse some right. I will be very happy when we create legislation that promotes equality. We have taken steps, we have adopted a law on prevention of discrimination, and the Parliament should change the law on personal records, which will regulate the appointments of transgender people, but also to go one step further and give rights to those who live in same-sex partnerships. no. "Human rights are also part of the system that needs to be sorted out and we can continue to boast of even greater progress," said Zajkova.

Kim, a member of the European Parliament, also greeted those present and stressed that this is a moment to celebrate. She asked solidarity with Oslo where the Pride Parade was banned.

We are here, we are loud and the rights of the queer community are important. "We will do our best not only for your community to be part of the EU, but also for your country to become an EU member, and we will fight as hard as we can for that to happen," said MEP Kim.

The participants also received support from the Belgrade Pride, which according to the representative Filip will be the organizer and host of the largest European Pride Parade to be held in Belgrade.

The Pride Parade continues tonight with a party in the city park, at the ARM stadium, and is ino organization of the National Network against Homophobia and Transphobia.

The protest march through the streets of Skopje passed under heavy police security.
