Slovenia will successfully complete the EU presidency for S. Macedonia, says Ambassador Predan

Milan Predan, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Northern Macedonia

The dispute with Bulgaria and its settlement was part of the conversation between the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations Artan Grubi and the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Milan Predan.

At the meeting, as announced by the Ministry, the need was emphasized to set a date for talks with the European Union as soon as possible, because the path of the Republic of Northern Macedonia to the EU is of special importance.

"It was emphasized that the two countries have a long cooperation between them and that Northern Macedonia in Slovenia always has a sincere supporter as a close partner and NATO member, while the country deserves a date for the start of negotiations early next year," the statement said.

Grubi and Predan discussed how to successfully complete the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the European Union for the Republic of Northern Macedonia and Albania on the road to the EU in terms of setting a date for the first intergovernmental conference and starting negotiations in the coming months.

The interlocutors also discussed the stabilization of the parliamentary majority and the performance of the governing coalition as a positive development in terms of the credibility of the implementation of the government program and strategic goals.
