The directors of the national archives from the state successors from the former SFRY authorized by their governments to implement Annex D of the Succession Agreement, which refers to the common archival heritage from the former SFRY, will hold a meeting in Skopje today.

The results so far and the possibilities for digitization of our common archival heritage will be analyzed, as well as finding opportunities to finance a joint digitization project.

The Director of the State Archives, Emil Krsteski, has been appointed by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia as an authorized representative in the Joint Committee for Succession for Archives, and is also the host of the event. A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will attend the meeting.

In 2001, the Agreement on Succession Issues of the former SFRY was signed, which entered into force three years later. The first joint meeting of the directors of national archives from the successor states of the former SFRY was held in 2011 in Belgrade. Annex D of the Agreement stipulates that part of the state archival material of SFRY should belong to the Republic of North Macedonia in its original form. The application of this Annex, which refers to the common archival heritage, is of strategic importance for the state.
