According to information received from the city authorities, so far about 7.530 households have been subsidized for the purchase of inverter air conditioners, which means that the same number of chimneys in the Skopje Valley have stopped smoking, and thus pollute.

The heating of inverter air conditioners is becoming more and more attractive every year. This is due to the benefits offered by the competent institutions for procurement of this type of heaters, but also to the desire of the population for cleaner air.

An additional reason for choosing and purchasing an inverter air conditioner is that it can be used in summer when the temperatures are extremely high. Precisely because of these benefits, this way of heating and cooling homes is becoming more and more popular.

According to information received from the city authorities, so far about 7.530 households have been subsidized for the purchase of inverter air conditioners, which means that the same number of chimneys in the Skopje Valley have stopped smoking, and thus polluting.

This year, The City of Skopje received a total of 1.667 requests for procurement of inverters. From them, 1.574 requests were approved, 71 of the submitted requests were rejected, and 22 more applications are currently in the approval process.

-In 2020, there were 5.002 received requests for subsidizing the purchase of inverter air conditioners, of which 4.577 requests were approved and 425 requests were rejected. In 2019, 1.600 requests were received, of which 1.379 were approved, and 221 requests were rejected - inform from the City of Skopje.

The subsidy project for procurement of air conditioners from the City of Skopje is extremely important, because households that are heated with wood or coal, are considered to be one of the biggest polluters in the Skopje Valley. An additional problem arises due to a number of unscrupulous citizens who in order to reduce their costs, while to heat, instead of firewood they use waste such as old planks, wooden windows and doors, parquet, and to make the situation even more alarming, there are citizens who do not miss the opportunity to heat their homes for at least a few days with tires, plastic, and even by burning old clothes.

Precisely because of this low awareness of environmental protection and the danger that spreads in the air due to burning any waste, pollution in Skopje is extremely high during the winter months. The most alarming situation is in the suburbs where the population is heated by wood.

- Implementing initiatives for environmental protection Skopje is one of the preconditions for reducing pollution in our city. That is why subsidizing the purchased inverters of our households, which replaced the old stoves, and thus directly acted in reducing emissions of harmful gases in the air, is one of the initiatives we have implemented in the past few years. We are especially proud that more than 7.000 households became part of this initiative and helped to improve the air and provide a healthier environment for all of us - say from the City of Skopje.

All citizens who heat with wood or coal have the right to apply for subsidies for the purchase of inverters, but it is a condition that all interested parties submit the heaters they have used until then at pre-determined points., such as wood stoves or coal stoves, and in return receive funds to purchase air conditioning.

According to the authorities, the goal is to contribute to reducing air pollution in Skopje by reducing the number of chimneys that smoke to heat homes during the heating season, ie in the winter.

To prevent possible abuse by families what They used the subsidies and procured air conditioning, while handing over the wood or coal stove in one of the points designated by the city authorities, the inspectors from the City of Skopje perform controls in the households.
