In today's public address on the withdrawal of the Law on Expropriation and the amendments to the Law on Referendum, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vuќi зборува also spoke about the company Rio Tinto, which received a state concession for the construction of a lithium mine in the country. At the same time, Vuќi из uttered a scandalous sentence for which it is not clear whether it was a slip or a big gaffe - Vuќi рече said: "we have no right to destroy the lives of more people than originally planned".

The Government of Serbia today decided to withdraw the Law on Expropriation from the parliamentary procedure, as well as to amend the adopted Law on Referendum and People's Initiatives. On that occasion, Vucic held a press conference.

Given that this law was related to the preparation of the ground for the company Rio Tinto, the beginning of the lithium excavation in the Jadar Valley, but also to the presumed environmental catastrophe that will follow, Vuќi. Also addressed this issue.

"I know that there are different opinions in the Government, I know that there are those who think that it would be normal, good and important. "I know there are others, I think because of the cost reduction of a foreign company we have no right… When you do something you can not always satisfy all interests, but we have no right to ruin the lives of more people than originally planned." he said Vucic.

"On the other hand, we really need to see if we want to have that mine at all or not, and a serious public debate has to start." added the Serbian president.
