Electronic commerce in Serbia is experiencing double-digit growth, and data shows that by 2027, these services will be used by around 4,5 million citizens. Aware of these data and the rapidly growing trend of e-commerce in our country, in cooperation with the Government of Serbia we will take all necessary steps to meet all challenges, especially when it comes to the fight against illegal trade on the Internet, said Tomislav Momirović, Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade for Polotika rs.

He stated that this ministry, together with the relevant institutions and companies dealing with electronic commerce, will work to suppress the gray economy on the Internet, improve the legal framework and develop the market based on the principles of fair competition.

– We will continue with activities to raise awareness and consumer confidence in electronic commerce and development of non-cash payments. We are following the trends of the European Union market with special attention, where we expect significant changes in the field of legislation to enable our companies to export goods to this market through the channel of electronic commerce - explained Momirovic.

When asked what is needed to suppress the shadow economy in electronic commerce, Momirović replied that illegal commerce has definitely moved to the Internet. Last year, the market inspection department carried out 285 controls and, in cooperation with the prosecutor's office and MUP representatives, 800.000 pieces of various products were confiscated.
