Simulation of a session of the Security Council organized by the Presidential Center for Political Education

Students of the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Philosophy at UKIM, today held a simulation at a session of the Security Council, organized by the Presidential Center for Political Education, with the support of the partner foundation "Friedrich Ebert".

According to the office of the head of state, nine students participated in the simulation and each of them was in the role of a member of the Security Council. The topic of discussion was "Environmental Protection and Air Pollution", and two of the students represented the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, and the former director of the State Environmental Inspectorate. President Stevo Pendarovski participated in the simulation and chaired it as a regular session of the Security Council.

- The purpose of the simulation is to bring the work of the institutions closer to the young staff and to get practically acquainted with the procedures of functioning of the state bodies, said President Pendarovski.

In front of the students, the President of the Republic explained the role of the Security Council, its composition and work, adding that the most common topics of the Council so far were the political and security situation in the country.

- Since the institutions work for the interests of the citizens, for the first time at a session of the Security Council we discussed the environment which was attended by representatives of the non-governmental sector. The health crisis, the pandemic, the vaccines, the fake news were also topics of the Security Council in the past period, said President Pendarovski.

In order to perform the event authentically, the students received materials and information and were introduced to the provisions of the Law on Classified Information and security certificates.
