A strong storm hit Halkidiki
The municipality of Kassandra on the first leg of Halkidiki suffered material damage from last night's storm followed by strong wind, and the seaside towns of Siviri, Pefkohori, Paliuri and Polichrono were particularly affected.
The municipality of Kassandra announced that they are registering the damage and asking for a state of emergency to be declared for quick rehabilitation.
The wind reached a strength of 10 Beaufort (over 55 kilometers per hour) and caused waves 12 meters high, which reached the streets and sidewalks.
- We have already asked the state to support us by declaring a state of emergency in the municipality so that there are the necessary funds that will help us repair the damage. We hope that our request will receive an immediate response from the competent ministries, said the mayor of Kassandra, Anastasia Halkia.
