Siljanovska-Davkova at an audience with Pope Francis, will also meet with Italian President Mattarella

Today, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, with an audience with the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis officially begins the several-day visit to the Vatican and Rome as part of the celebration of May 24, the Day of All-Slavic educators Saints Cyril and Methodius.

This year, Siljanovska Davkova leads the state-church delegation visiting Rome and the Vatican on the occasion of the "Macedonia in honor of St. Cyril" manifestation, and today, in addition to the audience with the Pope and the traditional exchange of gifts, the president will also meet with the State Secretary of the Vatican , Monsignor Pietro Parolin.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev should also attend an audience with the Pope today, but for now, as Siljanovska Davkova's office says, it has not yet been confirmed whether the two presidents will have a possible meeting.

Davkova and Radev are celebrating the Day of All-Slavic Educators in Rome on different days this year. Today, Radev will be in the "Saint Clement" basilica for the liturgy for Saint Cyril and in the "Santa Maria Maggiore" church.

Davkova, according to the agenda, tomorrow, May 24, will mark the Day of All-Slavic Educators with a visit to the basilica "St. Kliment" where the grave of St. Cyril. The prayer will be led by Metropolitan Timotej of Debar-Kicevo and Metropolitan Pimen of Europe.

After the prayer, the president and the delegation will lay a wreath at the memorial plaque in the Macedonian language in the "Santa Maria Maggiore" basilica in honor of the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius.

As part of her stay in Rome, Siljanovska Davkova will meet her Italian colleague Sergio Mattarella tomorrow, and after the meeting the president will make a statement to the media in Piazza del Quirnale.

As part of the manifestation "Macedonia in honor of St. Cyril", President Siljanovska Davkova will attend the concert of the National Institution "Chamber Orchestra from Bitola" in Rome this afternoon, an event organized by the Ministry of Culture.

This is the first official visit abroad of President Siljanovska Davkova, after winning the presidential elections on May 8. She leads the state-church delegation at the May 24 commemoration, which includes the Deputy Minister of Culture, Onur Ali, the Ambassador to the Italian Republic, Vesel Memedi, the Ambassador to the Holy See, Maria Efremova, the director of the Commission for Religious Relations communities and religious groups, Darian Sotirovski. The MOC-OA delegation is represented by Bishops Timotej and Pimen, while the Catholic Church is represented by Archpriest Stavrofor, Zoran Stojanov.
