Nermin M., a 45-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is accused of being a member of an international criminal group that defrauded and robbed several elderly people in Berlin and Bavaria.

The gang of several members, including the American Jimmy K. and the Pole Severin W., targeted pensioners, and the criminals posed as bankers and police officers. The trial of the defendants is currently taking place in the court in Berlin where they are tried for serious theft and fraud, transmits "News".

According to information, the accused used sophisticated tactics to reach their victims. They first called elderly people, posing as employees of the Central Bank of Germany and asking for confirmation of large monetary transactions. In case the victims deny any discrepancies in the balance of their accounts, the call would proceed by impersonating members of the criminal police. Then one of the gang members, as Nermin M., would come to the victim's house, posing as a policeman and with a fake ID to deceive the pensioners.

In this way, the Bosnian managed to steal 10.000 euros from one victim, while other members of the gang committed similar thefts. A total of 43.900 euros were stolen, as well as valuable coins and jewelry. According to the prosecutor's office, the defendant acted in coordination with the same method of work and successfully defrauded several elderly people. The frauds were committed in April and May of this year.

After an international investigation that included wiretapping and the cooperation of Polish authorities, the defendants were arrested in mid-May. Jimmy K., who was allegedly the leader of the gang, could be sentenced to six years and four months in prison, while Nermin M. he could get five years and two months. Severin W., who was lower in the hierarchy and served as a driver, faces a prison sentence of two to three and a half years.

If the defendants decide to plead guilty, there is a possibility that they will receive lighter sentences. The trial is expected to end soon, and the verdict is expected to be handed down in the coming months.
