The Gothenburg District Court yesterday sentenced a woman to three months in prison for a war crime in the Syrian city of Raqqa in 2014. A Swedish woman has been sentenced for publishing photos of the crimes of the Islamic State on social networks, it is written "Politico".

Islamic State members placed the mutilated bodies in a roundabout in the center of Raqqa, the city that served as ISIS's headquarters between 2014 and 2017.

The picture she shared on social networks shows a woman in front of a severed head. The court was told she wrote "derogatory comments" about the people in the pictures. Despite this, the 35-year-old denied any wrongdoing, saying the photos she posted on social media were not hers.

The court said that by publishing the photos, she likely "seriously violated the personal dignity of protected persons" under Swedish law, referring to the country's minorities. The court said she also expressed sympathy for the acts of the terrorist group.

She was also convicted of "intimidation of a public servant and serious defamation directed at two social workers". The court explained the sentence in a written statement to Politico, saying "all of these crimes were committed remotely, over the Internet or over the phone," adding that it took into account those circumstances and "the nature of each crime, offense and context" in which were carried out.

Iain Cameron, a professor of public international law at Sweden's Uppsala University, said she received a light sentence because she did not kill or maim the people in the images. He added that the sentence was "probably in line with Sweden's relatively lenient sentencing practice".
