What is he doing today: Marko Ugarkovic, multimedia producer and photographer

Marko Ugarkovic is 35 years old, lives and works in Skopje as a multimedia producer and photographer, in his production "Spit Take Studios". He is a graduated film and TV director at the Academy of Audiovisual Arts ESRA Skopje, and he completed his education in Denmark, at the technical school "European Film College", in 2013.
Since then he has been working on a number of projects in various positions, always looking for the next creative challenge.

Marko captured for us what one of his days looks like...
I start the day very early, between 4 and 4:30 in the morning. There is something magical about the morning silence. Due to the fact that I live in the strict Center of Skopje, this is a moment of the day when almost everyone is asleep and the traffic jam is completely absent. I spend the first hour reading, along with my morning coffee. Because I work with clients from different parts of the world, the period after coffee is dedicated to answering emails, coordinating tasks for the day and other quick work duties.

Exercising is an inevitable part of my morning routine, so on winter days it's usually some kind of exercise inside, while in the summer I use the quay by Vardar and the paths of Vodno, together with my two dogs.

Due to the pandemic, our team has switched to a virtual office, so most of my working days are in front of the computer, filled with meetings, project planning or market research.

The work is quite creative, because we deal with making animations for video games, illustrated books for children, and photoshoots of all kinds. Weekends are the periods when I allow myself to get lost in the nature of a mountain, with the device in hand, and recharge my batteries with fresh air and sun.

Afternoons are dedicated to my various hobbies. One of my biggest passions is cooking for my loved ones, so I experiment with different cuisines and approaches to food every day.

In winter days it is mostly food inspired by India, in various forms of curry, spicy recipes that warm the body and feed the soul.

Some days I go out with my camera trying to capture moments of everyday life in Skopje. Street photography is one of my favorite avenues, because of its ability to bring a story and emotion into everyday life, and to show how colorful and full of energy the world around us is.

I usually spend the evenings sorting through the photos from the day, playing the guitar or curled up under a blanket with a good series or movie with my loved ones. Weekends are always reserved for some socializing with good music and cold beer.
