German second division Nürnberg will not play evening games after the city council decided on Friday to limit the use of floodlights on Max Morlock Stadium due to the energy crisis, reports "Reuters".

Russia's aggression against Ukraine has driven up energy prices around the world, and Germany, which has been heavily dependent on Russian energy, is struggling to reduce energy consumption as winter approaches.

– In winter, there may be a shortage of gas and electricity. Because of this, the city council discussed again where we can save energy - the statement says, adding that it made a decision to limit the use of spotlights and underground heating.

– The heating of the stadium pitch will remain switched off following the agreement with the German Football League (DFL). We limit the use of spotlights until 21:XNUMX at most - announced by the Council.

Thus, the former Bundesliga will not organize evening matches that start at 20.30:13 p.m. Nürnberg is currently in XNUMXth place in the Second German League.
