
Steinmeier to the Kosovo colleague: You must work on creating conditions for progress towards the EU
The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, told his Kosovo colleague, Vjosa Osmani, that Kosovo must work on creating conditions for progress on the way to membership in the European Union and the Council of Europe, reported MIA's correspondent from Pristina.

In a social media post from the German president's office, which was reported by Kosovo media, Steinmeier said after today's meeting with Osmani in Berlin that Germany is very interested in the stability of the Western Balkans and supports Kosovo's aspirations for membership in European organizations.
"Germany is very interested in the stability of the region and supports Kosovo's membership in the European Union and the Council of Europe," the federal president emphasized during the talks. The country must work to create the necessary conditions for this," the German Presidency said in a statement.
At the same time, in the announcement of Osmani's cabinet about the meeting, it is stated that the Kosovo president expressed "deep gratitude for Germany's support in the process of liberation and statehood", but also in the Euro-Atlantic path of Kosovo.
"Kosovo and Germany have a strong and stable partnership based on the common values of democracy, peace and progress. Germany is a strategic ally in Kosovo's journey towards strengthening and international integration, so we expect to strengthen this partnership even more in the coming years," Osmani stressed according to the announcement.
Osmani assessed the Berlin process as a powerful stimulus for the European perspective of the Western Balkans and in that context reiterated her full support for the agreements resulting from this process.
"At the meeting with President Steinmeier, President Osmani, among other things, emphasized the role and contribution of the Albanian diaspora in Germany, which is a powerful bridge for the relations between the two countries. The two presidents also discussed the potential for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest," the announcement from the Kosovo president's office states.
Osmani arrived in Germany on Tuesday and initially met with Foreign Minister Analena Baerbock.
