The publication writes: "The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) wants to promote the return of refugees who have already been recognized in Greece with a cooperation plan. This emerges from an internal government document, which was made available to Spiegel."
According to the document, migrants returning to Greece will be supported by the Greek authorities within the framework of a so-called bridging program. For example, they will receive assistance with accommodation and food upon their return. Social advice will also be provided. By breaking the taboo in the Federal Parliament, Friedrich Merz wanted to gain credibility in the immigration debate… Later, the immigrants will participate in Greece’s new integration program that will help them learn the language and find work. A similar integration program in Greece ended in the fall.
Participation in the program, which began in January, is initially voluntary. In the long term, according to Banff, "forced" returns are sought.
According to the document, Germany's target group is "single and able-bodied people aged 19 to 49 who have been notified in Greece for no more than two years that they are in need of protection."
