Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Western arms shipments to Ukraine were drawing NATO into the conflict and could lead to an "unpredictable level of escalation."
Russian news agency TASS reported that Shoigu, during a conference call, accused the US and its allies of trying to prolong the conflict as long as possible.
He stated that they are doing this by supplying Kyiv with "heavy offensive weapons".
"Such moves actually draw NATO countries into conflict and may eventually lead to an unpredictable escalation," Shoigu said.
The Russian Defense Minister added that Russian forces have made progress in the battle for control over the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. "The offensive is progressing successfully," Shoigu said.
