The ex-mayor of Skopje, Petre Shilegov, referred to the scandal with the Zoo in Skopje, where several employees were found yesterday as butcher horses. Because of that The Ministry of the Interior deprived 5 people of their liberty. four employees and one external person, and the director of Skopje ZOO filed criminal charges against them.

"In the budget of the City of Skopje for 2021, about 7.000.000 denars were planned and paid for the functioning of the Zoo. These are funds that are paid out so that the Zoo can function normally and food for the animals can be procured normally. In the budget for 2022, 2.500.000 denars are provided for the Zoo. Was it planned in advance for the Zoo to become a slaughterhouse?, asks Shilegov, reacting to the drastically reduced budget for the Zoo by his successor Danela Arsovska.

The mayor of Skopje last night, after the scandal broke out, he expressly dismissed the director Kristijan Stamenov and from the City of Skopje announced  that "they distance themselves from the individually taken actions of the director".

By the way, in the last two days, more than ten horses and mules were slaughtered in the Zoo, so that the meat could be fed to the carnivorous animals. This kind of practice has never existed in the Zoo, employees testify, considering that the food for the animals was procured exclusively by tender.

- Director Stamenov claims that the horses were assigned to them by the Agency for Confiscated Property, while the director of the Agency, Faton Asani, claims that in the last five years, since he has been the director, no live cattle have been given to the Zoo, nor has any animal been euthanized, reported Westinomer.

Yesterday, inspectors from the Agency for Food and Veterinary Medicine came to the spot, found irregularities in the procedure and took away the meat. The SVR Skopje will file a criminal complaint against all six persons to the Skopje PJSC.
