"Shansa za Centar" prepared a map of public facilities that use fuel oil and oil
At least one hundred buildings are heated with fuel oil and extra light household oil. Fuel oil is an extremely "dirty" energy source, but extra light fuel is not to be underestimated either, appeals from the civic initiative "Shansa za Centar", which announced Map from public facilities that burn fuel oil and extra light household oil.
Household oil burning in one season can fill more than an Olympic swimming pool. And then we breathe that. According to public procurement contracts, more than 2,7 million liters of household oil can be burned in one season. Several institutions will burn hundreds of thousands of kilograms of fuel oil this winter, and in the Skopje valley, one public institution will burn 550 tons of coal for heating. In order to change the way of heating in households, more time, effort, work with the citizens and, above all, acceptable alternatives for them are needed. But in order to change the way of heating in the institutions, political will and determination are mainly needed, and serious money should be directed there from those that the citizens pay into the budget, say from "Shansa za Centar".
They add that this is a reason, in addition to other measures, to continue with the expansion of the heating network, which should be joined by all public institutions that have access to it.
