Shaqiri: Penalties are a lottery which unfortunately was unlucky for us
The coach of Shkendiya, Artim Shaqiri, is disappointed by the elimination from AIK Stockholm after the penalty shootout, after the score was 210:2 after 2 minutes of play.
Both matches, in Stockholm and tonight in Skopje, ended 1:1. At the same time, Shaqiri is satisfied with the game shown by his players.
- I am proud of my football players who showed that we know how to play football, to be equal with everyone in Europe. We deserved to win and go on, but that's football. In the end, luck was not on our side. Penalties are just a lottery, unfortunately, this time unlucky for us. However, we must know that we played against a strong team like AIK. We know very well what level Swedish football is at, they play in a stadium worth 200 million euros, and you see what kind of field we play on. But all these European competitions give us strength and motivation to continue. We are building a Shkendija for the long term, there will be new reinforcements and there will be refreshments. I feel sorry for the players who are really disappointed. Hasani is extremely sad after the missed penalty, but life goes on, we have to be stronger - said Shaqiri.
