With 62 votes "for" and none against the MPs in the Assembly of Northern Macedonia, they adopted the Law on Amendments to the Law on Labor Relations, which makes Sunday a day of weekly rest.

- Sunday is a non-working day is a reality. The government and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy have fulfilled a promise they made to workers. From January 92, Sunday will be a day of weekly rest for XNUMX% of workers, said the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jagoda Shahpaska on the occasion of the adoption of the Law on Labor Relations, which defines Sunday as a non-working day.

Minister паahpaska said that this legal solution enables the establishment of a balance between the professional and private life of the employee, as a precondition for their motivation and greater efficiency in the workplace.

- Workers are our biggest asset. Their work must be respected and valued. Therefore, those who will be engaged in activities that due to the technical-technological process must not be interrupted, will receive at least 50% higher daily wage per week and a day off that they can use in the next seven days. Non-compliance with this legal decision is determined by the State Labor Inspectorate and employers who violate the law are banned from work for 15 days, and if the offense is repeated within a year, the work ban will be 30 days. In periods of work ban, the employer will be obliged to pay workers compensation in the amount of the salary, said Shahpaska.

She added that the employees in the shopping centers, ie the malls, who will work on Sunday, will receive twice the daily wage, ie the daily wage increased by 100%. Additionally, 2% of the turnover realized in the malls in the previous year for the operation on Sundays and holidays will be intended for the construction of new kindergartens.

- Workers are the backbone of our economy and the driving force of the state. Therefore, they remain our priority in building future policies, said Minister Shahpaska.

Today, the MPs of VMRO-DPMNE did not vote for the amendments to the Law on Labor Relations, which makes Sunday a day of rest for 92 percent of all workers, and the remaining eight percent to receive higher per diems for a day, reported from SDSM.

- By not voting, the MPs of VMRO-DPMNE put themselves on the opposite side of the interests of the workers. For the umpteenth time, VMRO-DPMNE has shown that it does not care about the citizens or the workers, that the personal and party interest is the most important for them. The parliamentary majority led by SDSM, despite the obstructions, passed the law and remains a partner of the workers, continues to carry out reforms that promote workers' rights and improve the quality of life of all citizens, reads the statement of SDSM.
