Seoul: North Korea prepares for seventh nuclear test, first in five years

The test of a nuclear explosive device is apparently North Korea's preparation for its seventh nuclear test, South Korean officials said today.

"We do not believe the test will be carried out in the next day or two, but it could certainly follow," Kim Tae-hyo, South Korea's first deputy director of the National Security Office, told reporters.

According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, North Korea is believed to be preparing for its first nuclear test in nearly five years at the Punj-ri nuclear test site.
