"Setstat" in an expanded lineup will perform at "Kraj Vardarot Jazz"
The second festival evening of "Kraj Vardarot Jazz" will be held on September 24, starting at 20 p.m., in the chamber hall of the Macedonian Philharmonic.
The cult "Setstat", who are celebrating 30 years of their existence as a jazz formation, are performing. This evening, the audience will have a unique opportunity to hear them in an unprecedented edition, in an expanded composition-orchestra.
"Setstat" will perform with a special selection of musical material from their three-decade opus, which will be newly arranged for this composition. This will be the only and first performance of this type staged at the Philharmonic. "Setstat" have released nine studio albums, and their new, 10th album, entitled "Room 107", will appear at the festival.
- We don't want to talk about any "jubilee". We just don't feel "too old" for this job. We are still children. The accumulated experience of the years, and if you like, of the decades, gives us the opportunity to see things differently. We finished our new album "Room 107", which will see the light of day tonight at the concert. In the performance of "Setstat" we integrated four young Macedonian jazz musicians, who found their own expression during the recording of the new album "Room 107". It was very logical for us to invite them to a joint performance. I must admit that the energy with which they approached us is extremely inspiring for us - says Vladan Drobitsky, leader of the jazz formation "Setstat".
On this special evening, "Toka Shitet" (aka Idriz Ameti), frontman of the group "Blla Blla Blla" will perform in front of "Setstat Orchestra" with a solo performance of author's music on Sharkia.
"Toka Shitet" is the stage name of Idriz Ameti, who has four studio albums under his belt. As a solo artist, he plays the Sharkia (a traditional Balkan instrument). Amethy has been on the music scene since 1986 and has worked with various bands and artists.
The "Kraj Vardarot Jazz" festival is organized in cooperation with the Cultural and Information Center of the Republic of Bulgaria in Skopje, and is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia.
