The US Senate is voting on a $ 40 billion bailout package for Ukraine
The US Senate today voted to approve a $ 40 billion bailout package for Ukraine.
The measure includes money for military equipment, training and weapons for Ukraine and complementing US equipment aid sent to the country in its efforts to deal with the Russian occupation, as well as financial assistance to help other countries assisting Ukraine.
The package also includes billions of dollars in humanitarian aid, including financial assistance to tackle the global food shortage caused by the conflict in Ukraine.
The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted in favor of the package last week.
If the Senate adopts the measure, it will go to the president Joe Biden at the White House for his signature.
So far, one senator, Republican Rand Paul, has stated that he will not support the aid package formulated in this way.
