Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic stated that Serbia cannot accept the results of the referendums in the Russian-backed Ukrainian regions because, as as he pointed out, it would be completely contrary to the Serbian state and national interests, reported the MIA correspondent from Belgrade.

– On the one hand, our principled commitment to the principles and rules of international public law, the Charter of the United Nations, and on the other hand it would be completely contrary to our state and national interests, completely contrary to our policy of preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty and commitment to the principle of inviolability of borders, emphasized Selakovic press conference.

On the question of the Agreement that was signed with Russia, which two days ago in New York at the UN he signed it with the head of Russian diplomacy Sergey Lavrov, Selakovic said that it was a document that did not contain issues of harmonization of security policy.

- It is a document that has been signed since 1996 year, it is a technical thing, which especially this one year, in addition to bilateral consultations who are they refer to the United Nations, and what is especially important for us because of Kosovo, there is none as subject of consultations on the security policy, he pointed out.

Selakovic said that the signed Agreement regulates bilateral relations, as well as multilateral ones, and that such an agreement has been signed for years. Having her consideration the current situation, Selakovic stated that his personal position is that Serbia could have refused to sign the Agreement, but that he does not see anything fundamentally objectionable in that plan to stop the cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

He said that during his visit with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, to the UN in New York, 13 agreements, protocols and memoranda were signed, adding that the main topics of those meetings were related to the issue of Kosovo.
