Every third apartment is empty - they are still being bought, and prices are skyrocketing

In the third quarter of this year, apartment prices increased by as much as 21,2 percent compared to the same period last year, the National Bank announced.

Builders, as well as analysts, have been pointing out for a long time that the growth of apartment prices will continue in our country, even though every third one is empty. The consulting company "Forton Macedonia" recently presented the results of the real estate market, pointing out that prices are rising due to more expensive building materials, as well as due to the growth in demand.

- Price growth is caused by two groups of factors. One is the drastic rise in the prices of construction materials, and the other is due to the growth in demand, so now we have a balanced market. It is also due to the traditional habits of our population to invest in real estate. In conditions of low interest rates on deposits, as a safe investment, those who have free money decide to invest it in apartments. Also, our expats have a tradition of investing in an apartment in Macedonia - explained Olga Dervendzi, development manager at "Forton Macedonia".

According to the Census, out of a total of 839.174 apartments, 531.987 apartments or 63,4 percent are inhabited, and 307.187 apartments or 36,6 percent are uninhabited.
