The negotiation process begins with the American-Turkish consortium "Bechtel and Enka" for the construction of four highway sections with a length of over 120 kilometers on corridors 8 and 10-d, and construction activities are expected to begin during the year. The steering committee made up of representatives from the institutions will hold a meeting tomorrow, after which the negotiations of the working group will start in cooperation with the selected consultant IRD Engineerong and supervision of the project with which a contract was signed today in the Government, after the company submitted the bank guarantee for the offer of over 1,3 XNUMX billion denars, which he submitted to the tender.

- We will make all the necessary efforts for the construction of the four sections with the highest standard and quality, which correspond to the quality of the roads being built in the EU. I have no doubt that we have the necessary knowledge and expertise to complete the project on time and with high quality, said Paolo Orsini, Director of IRD Engineering after signing the Agreement with the Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Eyup Rustemi, in the presence of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski. the first deputy prime minister and minister of political system and relations between communities, Artan Grubi and the minister of transport and communications, Blagoj Bochvarski.

With this project, the construction of the highway sections is planned: Trebenishta - Struga - Qafasan of 22,5 kilometers, Gostivar - Bukojchani of 30,1 kilometers, Tetovo - Gostivar 27 kilometers, and the section from Corridor -10 d Prilep - Bitola 43,4 kilometers . For that purpose, 15 billion denars or 244 million euros are provided in the budget of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

According to Kovacevski and Grubi, this is the largest capital infrastructure project in the history of the country.

- The agreement will provide us with a modern and fast connection with the region, but also modernization of the infrastructure at home, Kovacevski said.

By the way, this summer the tender for the selection of the Supervisor and legal transaction advisor for the construction of the highways that will be built on Corridor 8 and Corridor 10-D by the American-Turkish consortium "Bechtel and Enka" was canceled after the selected bidder of the tender did not provide the bank guarantee for timely and quality execution of the contract. Then, the Public Enterprise for State Roads (JPDP) started a new procedure for announcing a new tender.

For the construction of the three new highways, the Government signed a memorandum with "Bechtel and Enka" last year, and the Parliament adopted a Law on determining public interest and nominating a strategic partner for the project for the construction of the highway sections of the infrastructure Corridor 8. The legal solution regulates the design and the construction of the infrastructure of Corridor 8 and Corridor 10 e, as individual projects for capital investments of strategic national importance for the state. The state anti-corruption commission assessed that this law limits competition and the possibility of a fair competition, as it does not provide for a tender procedure. After the Constitutional Court did not initiate a procedure for evaluating the constitutionality of the Law, the Government established a team for negotiations with the American-Turkish consortium for the construction of highways.
