The conditions in "Idrizovo" prison are improving - the renovated "fifth" ward has been put into use
In "Idrizovo" prison, the renovated "fifth" ward was put into use today. As the director of the Sanctions Enforcement Administration, Aleksandar Pandov, informed, the renovation of the closed ward will provide additional capacity for 100 prisoners.
- In an agreement with the director Zoran Jovanovski for less than a month, it has been completely renovated. Old-new beds have been put in, however, there are new mattresses. Most importantly, we now have an additional capacity for 100 prisoners, thereby achieving the main point of the critical part of the so-called the ambulance, where it is overcrowded, will be transferred to the fifth wing, and in addition, the reception department, where it is too cramped, will also be transferred to the fifth wing - said Pandov.
The building that houses the fifth grade, he added, dates back to 1946, but was closed in 2019 due to inhumane conditions by order of the Committee Against Torture (CPT).
The renovation, as informed by the director of the Jovanovski prison, was financed by donations.
