Due to the absence of the trial judge, the main hearing on the "Titanic 2" case, which was scheduled for today, was postponed and rescheduled for October 17, the Criminal Court announced.

The court case for electoral irregularities in the 2013 local elections is about to expire and it is uncertain whether will end within a reasonable time, as previously stated by the court. The criminal court should issue a final verdict against Mijalkov for "Titanic 2"  no later than April 2023, when 10 years have passed since the crime was committed.

This trial is in the final stage of presenting evidence, the second time after returning from the Appeal.

Namely, in March 2019, with the first-instance verdict for the "Titanic 2" case, the former director of UBC Sasho Mijalkov was sentenced to 3 years in prison, Menduh Thaci - to 3 years and 2 months, Bedredin Ibraimi - to 4 years and 6 months, Vlatko Sajkovski - 3 years, Sasho Srcev – 3 years and Elizabeta Stefanovska – 3 years in prison, but at the end of the same year the Skopje Appeal canceled the verdict and sent the case back to the Criminal Court for retrial.

According to the indictment, the ex-director of UBC Sasho Mijalkov is accused of receiving a reward for illegal influence, a crime that has a 10-year statute of limitations, and the others have been charged with abuse of office, a crime that does not have a 40-year statute of limitations.

Until now, Mijalkov has only one final verdict, and that was for the "Empire" case, where he was sentenced to three years in prison in Struga, after he changed his Skopje address to Ohrid.

For the other three cases against him, there are still no final verdicts. Namely, for the mass wiretapping case "Target - Trdina" Mijalkov received 12 years in prison, for "Trezor" which refers to the procurement of wiretapping equipment he received 8 years in prison, while for "Placevete na Vodno" his prison sentence is the smallest of a year and three months, but it is also not valid.
