Solutions are being sought for the accumulated problems in prisons

The problems with the spatial conditions, the lack of employees, financial resources, vehicles for escorting accused persons and the need for digitization of the institutions were the focus of today's working meeting of the Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, with the director of the Administration for the Execution of Sanctions, Aleksandar Pandov. and the directors of prisons in the country.

As informed by the Ministry of Justice, the Report of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture at the Council of Europe for the year 2023 was reviewed at the meeting, in order to take into account their remarks on overcoming the shortcomings that have been ascertained.

- At the meeting, it was agreed to intensify such meetings in order to find solutions to quickly overcome certain problems, using international aid, but also to strengthen the UIS budget for the smooth functioning of prison institutions, as well as the use of probation and other tools for parole release of the prisoners, announced by the Ministry of Justice.

They add that the Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, expressed the Government's commitment and commitment to overcoming all problems and raising the capacities of prison institutions in order to improve conditions, taking care of the rights of prisoners and their resocialization.
