Only one European country refuses to send ammunition as aid to Ukraine

On the grounds that it "wants peace", Hungary today rejected the EU's initiative to send about a million pieces of artillery ammunition - rockets, grenades and bombs - in the next year.

This will not prevent other EU countries from doing so, said the Hungarian foreign minister. Peter Sijarto.

EU foreign ministers today approved an action plan aimed at supplying Ukrainian forces with at least one million 155mm shells and replenishing EU countries' strategic stockpiles, some of which are almost completely depleted. Two billion euros will be withdrawn from the European Peace Fund (EPF), the European Union's extra-budgetary financial instrument that enhances the EU's ability to act as a global security provider.

Hungary first defended Russia, was against sanctions, then claimed to be for peace, because, according to the authorities, Hungarians living in Ukraine are also fighting and dying in the front lines.

The US State Department announced today that the US will send Ukraine a new aid package in weapons and equipment worth 350 million dollars. This will arrive before the expected spring offensive.

Fierce fighting is going on around Bakhmut. For months, Russian forces have wanted to capture it, but Ukrainian soldiers have resisted.
