USA: We want better and deeper relations with Serbia

The American ambassador in Belgrade Christopher Hill stated today that the USA wants better and deeper relations with Serbia and sees the country as a good partner with which it can cooperate.
"I believe that Serbia is now making good decisions and going in the right direction. Of course, there will still be difficulties, but the United States sees Serbia as a good partner with which it can cooperate and with which it will be closer in the future," said Hill at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
He said that it is no secret that the United States supports Serbia on its path to full membership in the European Union.
"I am not here to talk about the past and the difficulties, but I am here to say that although our countries are separated by an ocean, we are not at all separate. An essential part of the American role here is to support Serbia in its efforts to join the EU. It is essential that Serbia and the EU work together, that is, that Serbia enters the Union," said Hill.
According to him, the accession process is not at all easy, because there are many issues that need to be resolved.
"The US supports Serbia, helping it go through that process to become a good full-fledged member of the EU," said the US ambassador.
