The US Department of Justice has objected to the release of a court document that would have presented to the public the reasons for the search of Donald Trump's property in Florida.

The operation of the federal police in Mar a Lago created a political storm in the United States. It is the first time that something like this has happened to the residence of a former head of state. Trump supporters said it was a "witch hunt".

Several organizations, including the media, have asked the judge to release the document in which investigators explain why the search is necessary. But the Justice Department said such a release would harm the ongoing investigation

On Friday, at the request of prosecutors, a judge made public the search warrant for Trump's property and the list of documents seized in the operation.

The document, the publication of which is insisted on, contains confidential information about witnesses and techniques used by the police, as well as extremely important facts about the investigation, the Ministry of Justice points out. Its release could harm the next stages of the investigation by revealing the strategy of the investigators.

Meanwhile, longtime Trump Organization finance director Alan Weiselberg is expected to plead guilty to tax fraud charges today, and his trial is expected to begin in October, US media reported.
